In 2020, Stockwell was awarded its first renewable natural gas projects. Stockwell provided the engineering,
permitting, and construction administration services throughout the project.

The Athena Project comprised of three (3) dairies in eastern South Dakota. Digesters were constructed at each
dairy with gas upgrading facilities at two of the three dairies. Extensive raw biogas and renewable natural gas
piping was installed between the dairies. Athena came on-line in 2022 and is currently generating renewable
natural gas.

The Athena project included the following:

  • Five (5) – 120’ Diameter 20’ tall concrete digester tanks
  • One (1) – 100’ Diameter 20’ tall concrete digester tank
  • One (1) – 41’ by 20’ by 10’ deep influent/effluent tank
  • One (1) – 41’ by 20’ by 12’ deep influent/effluent tank
  • Hundreds of feet of underground piping
  • Final Site Grading
  • Facility Electrical Gear
  • Anaerobic Digestion System
  • Gas Upgrading System
